Winter Sea

From the Messum’s site: In the 1950s and 1960s, Spear made periodic trips to the Sussex coast and painted several views of Brighton, in particular. Spear based this spectacular study of breaking waves on views taken from the Undercliff Walk at Rottingdean, just a mile or two east of Brighton Pier.
